For many people their confidence in their interpersonal skills is as high as their confidence in their driving ability.  As with driving, neutral observers may view events differently.

What is clear is that we all need to be aware of three facts: one, that we need feedback to check out our assumptions about our skill levels in the interpersonal arena; two, that we will be judged by our actions and not our intentions; and three, that dealing with other people is an interactive process.

Interpersonal skills are vitally important for success both in work and social environments.

The ability to communicate effectively involves three key skills:

  1. Listening
  2. Questioning
  3. Observing
