Darwin NOW IN CUBA

The British Council is delighted to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin's birth by commissioning a panel exhibition which attempts to cover the significance of Darwin's research for us today. The exhibition has been reproduced for several countries in many different languages at the same time so here it is in Spanish in Cuba. It consists of 16 panels with beautiful images that cover Darwin's controversial theories of evolution, development of different plants and animals and how they are affected by changes in climate, and even how we humans evolved to enjoy listening to music.

Darwin NOW will tour by museums all over Havana and Pinar del Rio this 2009. Please see the calendar of the exhibition HERE.

CAFES SCIENTIFIQUE DEDICATED TO DARWIN

British Council Cuba and the Cuban Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) organised two Cafe Scientifique, as part of the British Council series of Cafes Scientifique to celebrate Darwin's bicentenary this year. One took place on 23 January and the other on 17 April, both at Salón Baraguá, Capitolio Nacional. The Cafes started with a video of British neuroscientist Ashish Ranpura, that provoked animated debates facilitated by Cuban Dr Giraldo Alayon. Pre-university students and their teachers, scientists and science communicators attended.
