Our Library in Zagreb is the unique place in Croatia where you can find much more than books. Our resources and services give you many possibilities for entertainment, information and learning. You can find lots of information about all aspects of contemporary life in the UK, improve your English, develop yourself professionally or simply enjoy a good book or film. Our library provides both reference and lending facilities.
All existing members will be given extended membership until 30 April 2009, and may continue to use and borrow materials as at present until 31 March 2009. We are not unfortunately registering new members, and we invite non-members to use the materials at our central premises at Ilica 12.
From May 2009 thousands of new members as well as our existing members will be able to access our collection through the central libraries of KGZ.
We have agreed with Knjižnice grada Zagreba (KGZ) to re-locate our collection to three main locations in the KGZ network:
- our most popular sections, literature, travel, history and science, will be available in the Flower Square branch, Bogdan Ogrizović library, Preradovićeva 5, an excellent location only a few hundred metres from our office
- English language learning, teaching & exams materials, our DVD collection, arts and cooking/nutrition books will be available in the main city library - Gradska knjižnica, Starčevićev trg 6, again in a central location near the main train station
- the remainder of our collection (business and management, British society, politics, education, lifestyle, psychology, and reference) will be available in the Božidar Adžija library, Krešimirov trg 2
The move may take 2-3 weeks.
The main focus of the collection is contemporary British fiction, literature, English language teaching, learning and exams, but there are also books covering different subjects like popular science, arts, education, travel, British history, business and management, social sciences, psychology and information technology. We have also books for children and young learners. Very popular are sets (books with accompanying cassettes) for learning English and Cambridge exams as well as easy readers - books and cassettes in 6 levels of English.
In the Reading Room we have reference books on geography, history, tourism and travel, including dictionaries, maps, atlases, guides for the UK and directories.
We offer best collection of British feature and TV films, series, documentaries, music and children's films on DVDs in town. There are popular series such as Monthy Python, Blackadder, Inspector Morse, Absolutely Fabulous, Office, Coupling and much more.
