10:00 – 11:30h – “Usefun" - Working with Lexis– workshop for teachers with Stephen Hindlaugh As the linguist Michael Lewis said: useful is good and fun is good, but useful and fun together is better. He even coined a term for this: "usefun". This workshop will look at useful and fun ways of working with lexis. We will look at what is involved in 'knowing' a word or phrase and principles and techniques for noting, storing, using and recycling lexis. |

12:45 – 14:15 – British Culture – breaking the stereotypes – workshop for teachers with Mark Davies You have already heard so much about British Culture, do you think there’s anything to add? But if you have ever wondered about how much of what you have learnt belongs to the stereotype, how much represents an iconic feature of the respective nation, and how much is a mixture of the two, come and join us for a workshop with Mark Davies. |

14:45 – 16:15 – Feeling Peckish – workshop for teachers with Peter Hopwood British food? Fish 'n' chips and Yorkshire pudding? If you're hungry for some information on British food - attend our workshop and discover the differences between what's cooking in the UK regions!! A chance to understand what food REALLY means to the British and also get a taste of delicious bit-sized teaching activities which you can use in your classroom. |

17:00 – 18:30 – The British Council Fun Quiz - a fun quiz on English and the UK for secondary school students with Peter Hopwood Do you like the English language and the UK culture? Do you like its history, its music, its movies, its food and its towns? You’re sure you could answer a couple of questions on that subject plus you like a bit of excitement and a bit of competition? Well, you seem to be the perfect participant of our English language and UK culture quiz for students! We need you and your friends (in teams of two) to come and take part in our quiz, answer a couple of questions in different categories, have a few laughs and maybe win valuable prizes! All you need to do to register is send us an email with your name and the name of your friend and come to the British Council on Saturday, 26 February at 17.00 - we guarantee a lot of fun! |
For those who would like to test the level of their spoken English, we have prepared mock exams in FCE, CAE, CPE – have a go, see what it’s like when you take one of these speaking tests! You will be examined by certified Cambridge examiners who will provide feedback on your performance. Please note that the comments you receive from our examiners during the speaking exam do not present an official exam result – these can be acquired after officially sitting for the whole exam which includes: reading, writing, listening, use of English and speaking part.

Please, note that speaking tests are always conducted in pairs – we will send you information on your time slot when you apply.
All of our activities are free. However, the number of places is limited, so please make sure you apply by sending an email with your name and phone number to maja.mandekic@britishcouncil.hr by 23 February stating which of the activities you are applying for.
