Just what it sounds like - a blogging marathon.
The TeachingEnglish Blogathon is an online blogging competition for teachers of English that:

brings together international English teachers to share good practice in ELT |

helps teachers to build an online professional network |
 |
 |
 |
encourages teachers to use blogging as a medium for their continuing professional development |
The most active, enthusiastic and interesting blogger will win an all expenses paid trip to Glasgow to attend the IATEFL teachers’ conference from 19 - 23 March 2012!

A weblog, or more commonly a blog, is a personal web page made up of frequently updated pages. It is used to voice opinions, ideas, views and comments on a particular subject matter, interests or current affairs. People who create blogs are known as bloggers and the process of keeping a blog is known as blogging. Some useful links:

If you don’t feel confident to be a blogger yourself, you can read other bloggers’ posts, leave comments, or forward their entries to your peers through Facebook and Twitter to encourage them. That way, you can make the whole experience more enjoyable.
