'Croatian Nights was born out of a shared fondness for hard drinking'

Tibor Fischer

A FESTIVAL OF ALTERNATIVE LITERATURE
April to May 2005

Croatian Nights is a new collection of contemporary short fiction by the most exciting and innovative writers from Britain and Croatia.

For the last six years, the playwright and novelist Borivoj Radaković has invited leading writers from the UK to Croatia, and more recently to Serbia, to perform to huge festival audiences alongside the very best authors from countries that make up former Yugoslavia. The Festival of Alternative Culture, FAK, is legendary in Croatia and Croatian Nights celebrates the networks it has created. Containing 18 new short stories set in Croatia, this anthology features nine UK authors and nine writers from the former Yugoslavia, most whom appear in English translation for the first time.

Join MATT THORNE, GORDAN NUHANOVIĆ, TONY WHITE, VLADIMIR ARSENIJEVIĆ, JELENA ČARIJA, ZORAN FERIĆ, BORIVOJ RADAKOVIĆ, EDO POPOVIĆ, TOBBY LITT, NIALL GRIFFITHS, BEN RICHARDS, NICHOLAS BLINCOE and SALENA SALVIA GODDEN to talk about the art of the short story, fiction in translation and the evolving literary scene in Croatia as it moves from its recent history of war, into a new future.
