Project Description:

The Culture Lobby project is a regional initiative. It initiates cross-border collaboration among cultural operators, curators and artists to create and exhibit a participatory “active archive” that will examine the process of EU integration in Western Balkan societies.

Artists document visually (photographs) and aurally (audio recordings) what citizens of Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia think will change or disappear when their territory joins the EU. As an archive of the people, the Culture Lobby will be an unconventional cultural monument of the collective future memories of a particular moment in this region’s history.

From 15 to 28 September 2009 Armand Habazaj and Leonard Kilafi, Albanian artists, conducetd a research in ten Macedonian towns. In the first half of October Aleksandar Grozdanovski and Ljupco Temelkovski, graduated photographers who work with video arts, experimental film and interdisciplinary arts, will carry out the same research in Serbia.

JOIN THE PROJECT! The Culture Lobby project invites you to contribute with your own views and comments to this ever-growing archive of collective memory by visiting the website www.theculturelobby.com. This unusual and informal web survey on the current and forthcoming situations the EU integration processes will bring to your everyday life is an open platform to voice your thoughts and concerns.
