Attention UK Host projects! New Vetting and Barring Scheme - August 2009
The UK Government has introduced a new Vetting and Barring Scheme which will come into force in the whole of the UK later this year. For those UK Host Organisations who workwith young people or vulnerable adults and host EVS volunteers, you will need to register them with the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA). For more information on the scheme and what you are required to do please go to the ISA website.
Attention: Visa sponsorship for non-EU volunteers - July 2009
Due to changes in the UK immigration law, all non-EU EVS volunteers must receive sponsorship to enter the UK
The British Council will act as sponsor for all non-EU EVS volunteers
Non-EU Volunteers will be denied entry into the UK without sponsorship
You will need to download and complete a Volunteer Infosheet and email it along with a scanned copy of the volunteer’s passport photo/details page(s) to the Action 2 enquiries inbox (action2.enquiries@britishcouncil.org) before making a visa application.
EVS Organisations must understand their responsibilities in hosting non-EU volunteers
You can download guidance here for those making online or paper visa applications to come to the UK on EVS
