Information on the funding levels for In-Service Training activity taking place between 1 April 2009 and 30 April 2010

Comenius In-Service Training grants combine flat-rate allowances with allowances based on real costs. Your travel costs and any course or seminar fee will be supported based upon your actual expenditure. However your living costs will be supported by a flat rate allowance determined by the duration of your training and the country in which the training takes place.

In addition you can apply for a flat rate allowance to support linguistic preparation for the training activity

The combination of these allowances cannot however exceed the maximum grant rates set below:

Duration of training activity up to 1 week up to 2 weeks up to 6 weeks
Maximum grant (euro)

2,000

2,500

3,000

The flat-rate grant to support your living costs while on the training activity is known as the subsistence allowance.

Example 1: a mobility activity lasting 10 days in Belgium. The subsistence for this would be 1 x one week (which is € 1,103) plus 3 x 2nd week days ( which is 3 x € 57.54 or €172.62) giving a total allowance of  €1275.62

Example 2: a mobility activity lasting 2 weeks and 5 days in Belgium. The subsistence for this would be 1 x two weeks (which is € 1505) plus 5 x 3rd week days (which is 5 x € 21 or €105) giving a total allowance of € 1610

You may also apply for a flat-rate grant to support linguistic preparation for your training activity (although as stated above, the maximum grant rates cannot be exceeded). This has been broken down for 2009 by the UK National Agency as follows:

  • €150 for linguistic materials ie for the purchase of language materials for self-learning activity
    or
  • €300 to attend a structured language course in the UK
    or
  • €500 to attend a structured language course in another Comenius country
