This page tells you where you need to send your application forms, how many copies we require, and if there are any additional actions you need to take, for each strand of activity within the Comenius Programme.

We have also included some explanatory notes on the various documents on the Application Forms and Guidance page.

  • Deadline There are different deadlines for different types of Comenius activity. Your application must be postmarked no later than the deadline date specified. Late applications will not be considered. It is a very good idea to keep proof of postage
  • Application Form Complete this form to apply for funding. There are different application forms for each type of Comenius activity. You must fill out the application form electronically. Hand written applications will not be considered
  • Supplementary Application Form Complete this form if you are applying for a School Partnership. Use it to show how your proposed partnership addresses the National Priorities for the UK
  • Application Guidance What makes a good application? Find out in this essential reference document.
  • Eligibility Check You don't need to fill this in. Use it to see exactly how your application will be checked for eligibility
  • Quality Assessment You don't need to fill this in. Use it to see how your application will be assessed for quality
  • National Priorities Assessment You don't need to fill this in. Use it to see how the supplementary application will be scored
  • Activity Overview These documents have been produced by the European Commission. They provide an at-a-glance guide to each part of the Comenius programme, bringing together useful information on eligibility, funding, deadlines and award criteria
  • Funding Information on the funding levels that have been set for Comenius in the UK

Where to send your application forms

Comenius School Partnerships

  • Send three hard copies of the application form and the supplementary application form (the original signed forms and 2 copies of each) to Comenius Applications, British Council, 10 Spring Gardens, London SW1A 2BN
  • You must also e-mail a copy of the application form to comenius.applications@britishcouncil.org
  • Please ensure the e-mail subject box contains your school's name and region; for example Beresfield Community School, East Midlands
  • Do not add large attachments to the application ie photos or diagrams

Comenius In-service Training

  • Send three hard copies of the application form (the original signed form and 2 copies) to Comenius Applications, British Council, 10 Spring Gardens, London SW1A 2BN

Comenius Assistants

Please note that all applications for the Comenius Assistants programme, both from assistants and from hosting schools, must be sent to the British Council's office in Edinburgh

  • Send three hard copies of the application form (the original signed form and 2 copies) to Comenius Assistants Applications, British Council Scotland, The Tun, 4 Jackson's Entry, Holyrood Road, Edinburgh EH8 8PJ

Comenius Regio Partnerships

  • Send three hard copies of the application form (the original signed form and 2 copies) to Comenius Applications, British Council, 10 Spring Gardens, London SW1A 2BN

Comenius Preparatory Visits and Seminars

  • From 2009 there will be an on-line application process for preparatory visits and seminars.
  • You must complete the online form in full (referring to the easy step guide for assistance)
  • Send three hard copies of the application form (one signed copy and 2 copies) to Comenius Applications, British Council, 10 Spring Gardens, London, SW1A 2BN. These can be printed off when completing the on-line process.
