Getting Started with Comenius

Find partners
For many types of Comenius activity, you will need to find partner schools or colleges from other countries within Europe. There are a number of ways in which we can help you to find the right partners. Learn more on our Find partners page

Then meet face to face
If you are planning a School Partnership or a Regio Partnership and you have identified suitable partners then the next step is to meet face to face.
You can apply for funding to undertake a Preparatory Visit to one of your partner schools. You come together as a group to plan the detail of your partnership application. It's also an opportunity to start building the personal relationships on which a successful partnership depends.
You should apply for a preparatory visit at least six weeks prior to travelling (some flexibility will be applied if possible). See the how to apply page for more details.

Get involved with eTwinning
Comenius and eTwinning
eTwinning enables schools in Europe to work together using Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

Host a Comenius Assistant
Hosting a Comenius Assistant, a future teacher from another European country, is a great way to introduce your pupils to a new culture and language and for you to make initial links with another country in Europe. Your assistant can also support your Comenius School Partnership project work.

What work are other schools doing?

Read the guides to good practice
These provide a great introduction to the management of all things Comenius. Find out more.
