For people who provide training to IELTS candidates, with a minimum C1 level of English according to the Common European Framework. This is not a preparation course for people intending to take the IELTS.
On this workshop you will:
- develop your skills in teaching speaking, listening, writing and reading
- find out the latest up to date teaching materials and activities for preparing students for the IELTS examination
- learn how to effectively prepare students for the exam using a variety of different strategies
- have the opportunity to share your knowledge and skills with other professionals in your field
- be provided with professionally developed materials which cater to your needs
In this workshop you will not:
- find out or discuss the IELTS marking criteria as this information is strictly confidential
- discuss the merits of the IELTS exam – the exam has been written by trained experts and we have no remit to change the exam
- prepare you as an individual to take the test
**All participants who complete this training will be given a certificate of attendance issued by the British Council.
We believe that learners need to be actively involved in the process of training. Your trainer will introduce skills development and sound pedagogical practices as well giving you the opportunity to try out some of those skills and techniques in pairs and groups. All of your sessions will be varied, interesting and relevant to your needs. Each workshop will have a maximum of 25 participants so that your trainer can give some individual attention to each participant.
The trainer for this course will be Martin Horkley.
Martin es an expert in IELTS with experience of teaching and training a wide range of courses in a variety of different countries. He has internationally recognised qualifications in teaching English as a Foreign Language and has trained in the latest communicative methodology.
His experience covers a wide variety of international examinations, such as:

- Cambridge ESOL Examiner Team Leader for examiners in Panama
- IELTS specialist for the British Council for the Americas
- EALTS (Aviation English) English Language Specialist Examiner and Examiner Trainer
$230,000 COP per participant for courses delivered in Bogotá. $260,000 COP per participant for courses delivered in other cities in Colombia.
All participants need to have a minimum C1 CEF level of English language awareness to participate.
