Creative Industries

British Council Colombia, the Ministry of Culture, the District Institute of Culture and Tourism and the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce commissioned the University of the Andes, the Department of Design of the School of Architecture and Design and the CEDE (Centre of Studies on Economic Development), for the Mapping of the Creative Industries in Bogotá and Soacha in 2002.  

The general objective of this research project was to present a diagnosis of the creative industries sector in Bogotá and Soacha, taking as a reference the model applied in the United Kingdom and presented by the British Council in Colombia. The necessary adjustments to the Colombian context were made through work done by the mapping team with consultancy services provided by Dr. Calvin Taylor, Economist, and Professor at the University of Leeds.

As part of the development of the conceptual framework, sixteen subsectors were defined for Colombia, alongside their respective main activities and relationships.  These were:
