Guilherme comes from the city of São Paulo and his awareness of Climate Change issues began at school. He took part in an important university forum for young people, where he represented Jordan and the UK at the forum’s United Nations Commission for Sustainable Development. 'It is vital that changes in consumer habits are affected, but we must demand more from the government and private initiative. The solution lies in global collective thinking coupled with local actions.'
Antonio is from Fortaleza, Ceará and became interested in environmental issues in 2001, when he entered military school in his home town. 'The solution must be global. The nations that pollute the most must accept their responsibility and take action. Countries, on the whole, should have as objective sustainable development.'
Laila comes from the city of Pirenópolis, in the mid-western state of Goiás. Her experience in environmental matters is extensive and unique, she lives in an Ecovillage, a community that seeks to live and teach others how to live in a sustainable way. 'Innovations need not necessarily be new technologies. What we really need is to search for new ways of living which make use of currently available technologies in a regional scale and seek the multiplication of sustainable communities in urban and rural areas.'
