Speaker's Biography:
Andrew Pinder was appointed the Government's e-Envoy in October 2000. E-Envoy is a high profile position reporting directly to the Prime Minister, working across the Government with a large number of Government Ministers, as well as the wider economy. The role of the e-Envoy is to ensure that the country, its citizens and its businesses derive maximum benefit from the knowledge economy; working to meet the Prime Minister's target for internet access for all who want it by 2005; and supporting work across Government to develop the UK as a world leader for electronic business.
Andrew has had a long career in both the private and public sectors. After 18 years in the Inland Revenue, where he became Director of IT, Andrew moved to the private sector, becoming Director of Systems and Business Processes at Prudential UK, before joining Citibank NA as head of Operations and Technology in 1995.
