Competition and Regulation
A three-year project to support economic reform in China

Our Governance Team has started a three-year project to strengthen Competition and Regulation integrated policy making in China, with particular emphasis on regulatory governance and institutional development. This involves working with various Chinese research institutions and governmental organisations to promote economic reform.

After 3 yeas joint work with the over 10researchers from DRC, NDRC, UNIRULE, UIBE and Tsinghuan University, Competition and Regulation Policy project has drawn to close.  Policy briefs and research papers in 5 areas of Anti-Monopoly Law, Medical Services Regulation, Water service regulation, Consumer interest protection and Corporation governance regulation have been well developed and completed.

The international conference of the project was held on 25 and 26 February on 2006 in Beijing.  Prof Wu Jinglian, Prof. Paul Cook from Manchester University and Philippe Brusick from UNCTAD will join the discussion with the project team members and scholars, policy advisors, government officials from the State Council policy office, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Water Resources, Consumer Association, CASS etc on the policy reforms and challenges in the field of competition and regulation in China.
