A collaborative project between the British and Chinese governments, the Unemployment Insurance Project was originally agreed in 1999 to address issues surrounding China’s growing problem of unemployment. We have been appointed by the British government to assist in the implementation of the project.
Following the formal launch in February 2003, the project was carried out in six municipalities in the provinces of Liaoning and Sichuan. It has enhanced China’s reform efforts by improving the capacity and management systems for unemployment insurance and employment services and by increasing support provided to the unemployedand other disadvantaged or vulnerable groups.
