NGO Evaluation

The fast growing civil service sectors are playing an increasingly important role in China’s social and economic development. Creating a more effective system for the evaluation and regulation of these social groups, foundations and private non-enterprises organisations (otherwise known as NGOs) is therefore increasingly important.

We are currently working with the Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs on a three-year project to accelerate this process.  A study tour joined by national and local NGO administrators and leading scholar will visit the UK between October and November 2003 to observe UK NGO operations and the relationship between government and NGOs.

In 2004 and 2005, we will organise a series of seminars, workshops and policy-related research, including further study and investigation. This will lead to a research report and policy recommendations to be completed by 2006. We expect these activities to make a major contribution to the establishment of a new NGO management system in China.
