Despite the impressive growth of Chinese NGOs in the last 20 years, NGO transparency and accountability has become a problem frustrating their sustainable development. Equally, small sized Chinese NGO’s have little knowledge of their counterparts in other countries. There is a need therefore to provide opportunities for small Chinese NGO’s to access information about the work and standards of their counterparts in other countries and make their work attractive to potential donors from domestic and international sources.

This project focuses on the development of a web-based platform to promote NGO transparency as a means to attract both domestic and international donors.  The key activities are a needs analysis; consultancy advice in web-based design drawing on international experience; agreeing the implementation plan and work schedule; training individual NGO’s in web-based development skills and techniques.

The output will be the first ever web-based platform for small-medium sized Chinese NGOs and a training manual on web-site development skills for NGOs. Longer-term impact will be the ability of the NPO Network Centre to support training for NGO’s in web-based technology using the training manual.

This project cycle is 2003-2005.
