The China Fellowships Programme aims to foster science and technology links between the United Kingdom and China. It enables outstanding postdoctoral scientists from China to obtain additional knowledge and skills in the United Kingdom which will assist them in contributing significantly towards China’s scientific and economic development. The Fellowships are for periods of between six months and one year. The Royal Society will provide funding covering the visiting scientist’s cost of living in the UK. Joint Projects are intended to fund travel and subsistence requirements for a British scientific research group to collaborate with a Chinese scientific research group over a maximum period of three years. These funds cover the UK research group participants’ international airfares to China and the Chinese research group participants’ subsistence in the UK, up to a maximum of £6,000 per year.
