Dr.Matt Wilkinson is a zoologist, science communicator and actor. He has a degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, UK, where he also obtained a PhD in the method of flight of the extinct pterosaurs, a project he continued as a research fellow at Clare College, Cambridge. This culminated in the construction of a life-size radio-controlled model of the 4.5-metre wingspan pterosaur Anhanguera, which is now awaiting a successful flight test (though there have been several unsuccessful ones!). His science communication work began in earnest in 2005 when he came runner-up in the first Famelab competition. Since then Matt has become a regular speaker at science festivals in the UK, and has made a number of radio appearances. He was also involved in the British Council’s Darwin Now events in Hong Kong in November last year, and is delighted to return to China. His first play, This View of Life, about Darwin's champion Thomas Henry Huxley and the meaning of evolution, received its premiere performance at the Cambridge Darwin Festival at the beginning of this month.
