The British Council (operating in China as the Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy/Consulates-General) on behalf of the China IELTS Network and in collaboration with National Education Examinations Authority administers IELTS in 30 test centres throughout China and IELTS tests are held on 47 test days in a year in these test centres.

Registering for IELTS could not be easier! You can now register online for the IELTS test by visiting the NEEA IELTS Online Registration website.

You should visit NEEA IELTS Online Registration website and follow these 5 simple steps to register for IELTS:
- Create your NEEA User account on the IELTS registration website
- Pre-pay your test fee
- Book the test of your choice
- Complete and submit the online Application form
- Confirm payment
You must complete each step in this process in order. Your IELTS registration will not be confirmed until you have finished all four steps. For further information, please visit NEEA IELTS Registration Website.
- Candidates should register for the test at least 2 weeks before the test date. Some tests fill up before this time, so you are advised to register earlier.
- IELTS registration is normally closed 12 workdays before the test date. The cut-off date for registration, transfer and cancellation may change due to public holiday. The registration cut-off date for each test is available on the web page when you reserve a seat at selected test centre. Please be reminded that the deadline for registration, transfer and cancellation falls on the same day.
- Candidates in mainland China can register for any test dates available throughout the year.
- IELTS Candidates in mainland China may pay the registration fee online or by wire transfer.
- Candidates will be able to repeat at the next available test, regardless of the date of their previous test.
After you have successfully registered for the IELTS test, you can change your test date and/or test centre before the registration cut-off date by visiting the NEEA IELTS Registration Website. You will be charged an additional fee of RMB500.
You can also cancel your IELTS registration by visiting the NEEA IELTS Registration Website before the registration cut-off date. You will be refunded RMB 700 of the original test fee and after you complete the cancellation process, you still need to contact the NEEA call centre to activate the refund procedure; otherwise, you will not receive the cancellation refund.
Candidates who do not apply for test transfer or test cancellation and who are absent on the test day will not get a refund.

If any urgency happens after the registration cut-off date which prevents you from attending the test, you are advised to inform us immediately. Under certain special circumstances you might be allowed to cancel your test after the registration cut-off date. For example, you are seriously ill and can provide sufficient medical documentation and a letter specifying your reason for not being able to attend the test with the specified deadline.
We make every effort to cater for special needs of any disabled candidates, to enable them to best understand questions and tasks and complete the test. It is our aim for the language level of all candidates, irrespective of disability, to be assessed fairly and objectively.
Candidates who require special arrangements are asked to inform us at least three months before the test date. Relevant supporting materials (medical certificate and/or disability certificate) should be submitted as well.

We cannot be held responsible for any interruptions caused by circumstances beyond our control. If examinations or their results are disrupted, cancelled or delayed, every effort will be made to resume normal service as soon as possible.
