	What is BULATS

BULATS, the Business Language Testing Service, is a language assessment service specifically for the use of employees, job applicants and business English learners who need a fast, reliable and cost-saving solution to evaluate their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.

Developed by the ALTE (Association of Language Testers in Europe) member organisations,
BULATS offers multilingual test materials in: English, French, German and Spanish. BULATS test result corresponds with the ALTE Framework of Levels for Language Ability,
which makes BULATS comparable with other internationally recognised language tests. The English test is developed by Cambridge ESOL in the UK and meets the needs of people who use English as their daily working language.

		BULATS in China
		BULATS was first introduced to corporate clients in China in 2000 by the British Council and the BULATS agent network, and was officially launched in China in late 2003 as a result of the partnership between the British Council and the Personnel Testing Authorities under the Ministry of Personnel. An agent network consisting of 30 BULATS agents in 14 major cities in China has been developed and local authorities in cities and provinces like Shanghai, Hangzhou and Liaoning have adopted BULATS as the Business English evaluation tool for their Civil Servants. As BULATS became increasingly recognised and accepted by organisations in China, the BULATS test was made available for individual candidates by the BULATS agent network in June of 2005. Individual candidates can sit the test in 13 cities twice a year. In the corporate sector, BULATS has also obtained wide recognition from organisations in the fields of IT, Finance, Manufacture, Food Services and Government, etc. Phillips, SEMENS, HSBC, PWC, ADIDAS, VOLVO, P&G, COLGATE, China Customs and the embassies of the UK, US and Australia are good examples of BULATS clients.
