Sino-UK Hubei Vocational Education and Training Project

The Sino-UK Hubei Vocational Education and Training Project launched after the signing of a collaborative agreement with Hubei Provincial Department of Education in December 2001. After that several training workshops and study tours were organised for officials, principals and teachers from government authorities and vocational institutions in Hubei. Several vocational institutions have established links with UK institutions.

By learning from UK’s practice and experience, the certificates/diplomas’ mutual recognition is arranged between Hubei Provincial Department of Education and Hubei Provincial Department of Labour and Social Security. Short courses organised by the Department of Labour and Social Security can built credits for trainees’ studies in colleges/universities.

Objectives:

To create a mechanism for matching Hubei and UK vocational education providers for the development of joint collaboration.

To promote possibilities in establishing Sino-UK joint venture educational programmes, with the aim of accelerating co-operation in curriculum and materials development.

To promote the exchange of teachers and students between vocational education institutions in the UK and Hubei.

To develop vocational teacher education in Hubei.

To develop the capacity of principals of vocational institutions in Hubei.

To introduce UK vocational qualifications into Hubei.
