We have been working with the Guangdong Department of Education on the Vocational Education Project since 2000.

This is a two phase project. In Phase I, ten pilot polytechnics looked at ‘student-centred’ teaching, learning and assessment methods and teaching materials used in higher vocational education in Guangdong. Following this research UK school managers trained principals in school management and subject teachers in student-centred teaching methods. Principals and subject teachers were from polytechnics in Guangdong province.

This training will produce a core group of professionals, skilled in research and able to pass on information and knowledge to fellow professionals in local polytechnics to develop appropriate localised standards to train teachers and principals.
