Teaching English in China (ISSN: 1005 - 538X) is the only English language teaching journal in China published entirely in English. The journal welcomes articles from university professors and school teachers.
The journal was established in the early 1980s as a simple newsletter to enable British specialists and their Chinese colleagues to keep in touch and learn about British government supported project developments.
The British Council Beijing managed the production and distribution of the first 30 issues which were sent to 4000 individuals throughout China free of charge.
The Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (under Beijing Foreign Studies University) now manage printing and distribution of the journal, though we continue to fund qualified native-speaker English editors. Teaching English in China has been issued quarterly since January 2000 and is still available to Chinese institutions free of charge. In 2002 circulation of each issue was 23,000.
