This exciting scholarship opportunity is open to permanent residents of People's Republic of China (Mainland China only).
Priority will be given to subjects in the creative industries, science and technology, and financial services.
This scholarship is funded by the Scottish Government and managed by the British Council. The Scottish Government aims to bring more high caliber entrepreneurial postgraduate students, to develop and sustain relationships with these students and to help them develop skills and experience which will complement their studies. The program is also part of “Fresh Talent Scheme” which allows students to work two years in Scotland after graduation.
Eligibility criteria
- Chinese mainland citizen aged between 25 and 35
- At least 3 years full time work experience post first degree graduation
- Applicants hold a good first degree in a related subject from a recognised university
- IELTS( Academic ) 6.5, with no individual band less than 6
- Applicants must already hold a Conditional/Unconditional Offer from an Institution in Scotland
- Applicants must study a taught postgraduate course. Science, technology, Finance or creative industries (including arts, design and culture) subjects are the priorities
- The following courses are NOT covered by the Scholarship: MBA, Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Studies
- Applicants cannot apply for any other award or scholarship that may run concurrent with Scottish International Scholarship
- Applicants who have previously received a British Government funded award or scholarhsip are not eligible to apply
- Applicants are not currently working or studying in the UK

British Council ( which operates as the Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy in Beijing, and the Cultural and Education Section of the British Consulate-General in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chongqing) is the only official channel in China mainland. Interviews for short listed candidates will be held in Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy. Time will be confirmed later to shortlisted candidates.
