Drawing on the country’s intellectual capital and immense creativity, we at the Science Unit of the British Council are trying to reinforce UK’s positive role in the international community through both technological and educational co-operation. To provide funds to support travel to a laboratory and reasonable subsistence costs, to enable the applicant to perform some experimental work which might advance an on-going programme or facilitate a collaboration which may lead to new programmes of work.
Now, more than 20 UK universities have been invited to participate in the pilot of the DHPAs scheme, and the first tranche of awards in October 2004 provided fully-funded scholarships for approximately 130 students.
