FCO/CSC CHEVENING SCHOLARSHIPS

This joint Chevening scholarship programme has been funded by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (the FCO) and the China Scholarships Council (the CSC) since the academic year 2006-2007. Candidates will have to apply for either the main Chevening scheme or this joint scheme.  If any candidates have applied for both programmes at the same time, the application for the main programme will not be processed.

The scheme will cover up to a maximum of 15 scholarships per year. If there are not enough suitable candidates put forward (i.e candidates approved by both parties) then less than 15 will be sent. Representatives from the FCO and the CSC will make a joint decision on the candidates following an interview. If the FCO and the CSC can not agree on the outcome of a candidate’s application, then the candidate will not be accepted on the scheme. If selected by both parties, scholars will be expected to take up the awards.

The scheme will enable suitably qualified students to undertake a one-year taught Master's programme for all courses except MBA in any universities in the United Kingdom. Other one year courses of study may be considered but will only be approved if both parties agree. The final choice of university and course must be approved by both parties as being of suitable quality and of direct relevance to the needs of the candidate.
