It is about providing a platform and framework for the creation of sustainable, multilateral partnerships that link the Higher Education sector, government and business communities to drive forward global, regional and national knowledge economies.
The product delivers through four strands.
- Knowledge Economy Partnerships: this strand is about providing a framework for the development of cluster partnerships across countries and regions based on such themes as research and innovation, collaborative teaching programmes, educational management partnership or collaborative commercial consultancy.
- Knowledge Economy Convening Dialogues: these are opportunities for us to bring key Knowledge Economy contacts together at national, regional or international level to foster the creation of partnerships, or to evaluate progress and renew commitment or to showcase success. The actual format of these dialogues may vary - just as the specific format of Knowledge Partnerships will vary from context to context - there is no one size fits all.
- Partner Connect Placement Scheme: we are looking to facilitate the placement of the researchers, faculty staff and education professionals within their Knowledge Economy partner organisations to facilitate knowledge sharing, skills transfer and the development of sustainable networks.
- English for International Collaboration: we will support the effectiveness and sustainability of the other strands by providing participants in Knowledge Economy Partnership activity with access to English language support.
Thus far we have developed the following proposals with China-UK partnerships: the Sino-UK Collaboration on Animation Education, the Sino-UK Health Care Talents Nurturing Scheme, and the Sino-UK Collaboration on Industrial Leftovers. One noteworthy on-going project titled Ningbo-UK Collaboration on Textile and Fashion Design has already made some notable achievements. We are also calling for expression of interests for the projects UK-Hangzhou Collaboration on Animation Education and UK-Wuxi Collaboration on Technology Transfer.
