English Teaching and Internet Project in Guangdong

In Guangdong, we are working with the Guangdong Department of Education on  an English Teaching and Internet Project (ETIP), to meet the demands for Information Communication Technology (ICT) in school teaching. English teaching is being used as a pilot subject, but we hope that other subjects will be introduced soon.

Teacher training, information sharing and dissemination are the key elements of this project. 40 elite secondary school teachers selected from project schools across Guangdong province received training from UK and Chinese consultants in the skills needed to train other Chinese teachers. They will train other English teachers in their own cities at future workshops.

In recognition of the need for online training and information sharing, a project website was set up by the Centre of Future Education of South China Normal University. This website provides a useful forum for English teachers. Project newsletters are also published on a regular basis to disseminate up-to-date information to English teachers across the province.
