Literature
Read all about it—we're pushing the envelope all the way to the razor-sharp edge of new British literature. It's an exciting time for writing in Britain.  From the well-established (Ian McEwan and Doris Lessing) to the very new (Andrea Levy and Andrew O'Hagan), the literary scene is bursting at the seams with energetic, vibrant, and innovative writing.

We promote innovative and contemporary work from the UK, and build audiences for international literature through the British Council's global network. We work with hundreds of authors all over the world, lead over 350 projects with our influential partners, host many websites and publish widely.
