Infadels and Killa Kela China Tour
the third wave of the Bacardi Sino Sessions

Tickets 120/80/60 Standard/Advance/Student (inc. 1 Bacardi cocktail)

Beijing: 8PM, 6/1/2007, The Star Live, ticket hotline 6425 5677
Shanghai: 8PM, 6/2/2007, Absolute House, ticket hotline 6249 9535

The Party went off … and on, and on … Hands up if you had a good time?

There were a lot of hands in the air on Thurs 15 and Saturday 17 March when Bugz in the Attic and The Nextmen blew Shanghai and Beijing away for the second of the Bacardi Sino Sessions.

If you arrived for the Lab crew (our excellent Shanghai warm up band) in Absolute House, then you got over 5 hours of the best quality music you will see anywhere. For those that had pre-bought tickets at 80RMB including a classic Bacardi cocktail, this is the kind of value you don’t expect in that wonderful city anymore.

People are telling us that what we are doing is different; a concert and a party rolled into one.  We’re pretty stoked about that – it’s exactly what we want – for everyone to experience amazing music and have their expectations challenged and their horizons broadened.

Says Bacardi Marketing Director Trent Russell, “We are experiencing a real groundswell of support for these events. We hope more and more people get to experience a Bacardi Sino Session over the next few months – there’s a lot more good live music to come.”

Archie Hamilton, from the organisers Split Works, feels that the Bacardi Sino Sessions is showing what live music CAN be all about, right here in China, ‘Live music isn’t just about stadium concerts. That’s one part of it, (the type of performance you see on TV), but live music is often best in smaller venues with great bands that really get into people’s souls.  We want to continue to push the envelope and bring the widest selection of amazing musicians that we can.  Watch out for the next Session…it’s going to blow your mind”

How does it all work?  It’s a mix and blend of 3 different things (like the Bacardi, lime, and sugar mojito combo that’s still coursing through our veins, 2 weeks on!!)

Choice of artist is vital.  It’s not easy to get the right people on the plane at the same time. Who would have thought that Bugz and The Nextmen would end up jamming together on stage, that The Lab would be on the dancefloor with Bugz when The Nextmen started at 1am? It wasn’t in their contracts, but sometimes you just feel that a lineup is going to work like that.

Choice of venue is crucial – The Star Live in Beijing continues to be in a league of its own for live music in China  Absolute House was made over with a stage, lighting & sound– the possibilities here are really exciting.

Finally choice of partner can make or break gigs like these.  Bacardi have backed these events with money and expertise.  Where else can you enjoy exquisitely blended mojitos and Cuba Libras for just 20RMB while listening to the best music in China?  Bacardi is committing to the Bacardi Sino Sessions because we all feel that this is what China really needs– a chance to party to something completely new in a relaxing place with a good vibe.  More music, more Bacardi-infused cocktails and more fun.  Big thanks to them for their continued support and commitment to the development of live music in China.

So what’s next? Bacardi Sino Session #3 brings yet MORE!

We are happy to announce that the Infadels have agreed to come out to China on the 1 and 2 of June, playing in Beijing and then Shanghai. But why stop there? Joining them at the top of the bill is Killa Kela rated on Wikipedia (no less) as one of the world’s best beat boxers.  On stage with his 4 crew, this will be a show that China will remember for years to come.  Do not miss this…

Infadels are a five-piece that have enjoyed massive critical success for their debut album, We Are Not the Infadels.  They’ve shared stages with Faithless, the Prodigy and the Scissor Sisters, so we’re in good company recommending this band to you.  Get Jagger67 and Love Like Semtex on your stereo, NOW.

Killa Kela has taken the art of beatboxing to a new and truly special place.  His multi-vocal skill forms the basis of one the most progressive and exciting live shows coming out of the UK. It weaves in and out of live instrumentation, DJing, singing and rapping (courtesy of his Spit Kingdom co-horts), it’s a spellbinding experience.

And as if that wasn’t enough, we are adding some very special guests to the bill. Courtesy of our friends at Wieden + Kennedy Shanghai, a trio of China’s best beatboxers known as YBbox, made up of Herry (桂晶), Muzzle (林虎), and Leo (姜林虎), will be joining us all the way from YanBian, a small town near the North Korean border.

We are committed to keeping our bills a mix of Chinese and International artists and we are really excited about the possibilities here.  Want to see how YanBian and London compare on the beatboxing front?  Come and see the show…

Supporting in Shanghai we have the Banana Monkeys, a three-man modern rockabilly crew with a liking for Iggy Pop.

And starting it off in Beijing we have invited MC Young Kin and DJ Wordy to give us some of their riddims and word for Kela.

Look out China, the Bacardi Sino Sessions are full steam ahead, get on for the ride!
