Arts Activities in China

China-UK Arts Management Professional Development Programme 2013

This six-and-a-half-week programme includes two workshops and a five-week work placement in the UK. It will offer successful candidates from mainland China the possibility of an extended period of practical professional development in arts management in fields of performing arts, visual arts, museums, and design. It will provide participants with professional development through skills sharing, job shadowing, and some task-based work; it will also encourage the development of networks between Chinese and British colleagues, thereby promoting cultural exchange and dialogue between the two countries.

Toward Modernity: Three Centuries of British Art

This exhibition draws on this rich legacy of art in the North West and celebrates the open-mindedness of the collectors and their belief that art should be enjoyed by all. While the contributing galleries and museums have different specialisations, by drawing on the entire spectrum of styles, the exhibition presents a comprehensive survey of the development of British painting from the mid-eighteenth century to the present day.

Mapping the Creative Industries: a toolkit (Free Download!)

Governments and creative sectors across the world are increasingly recognising its importance as a generator of jobs, wealth and cultural engagement. The UK has been a leader in the development of this agenda, not just as a driver of the economy but also promoting social inclusion, diversity and development. This toolkit draws on the experience of the British Council and its consultants to set out the seven steps of a successful creative industries mapping project.
