Best of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2010

Founded in 1947, the Edinburgh International Festival grew out of the rubble of the Second World War with the aim of providing 'a platform for the flowering of the human spirit'. Now every August, the Festival presents three exhilarating weeks of the finest creators and performers from the worlds of the arts while Edinburgh's theatres, concert halls,  and smaller venues come alive with the best theatre, classical music, opera, dance and visual art from around the globe.

Since 2008, Milky Way Arts & Communications Co., Ltd began to present the Edinburgh Festival highlights so as to bring UK's finest new theatre productions to Chinese audiences. Vibrantly staged, emotionally engaging, experimental yet universally entertaining and accessible – these dramas explore the multi-dimensions of modern society and human sentiment.

This year’s Best of Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2010 will present three exciting works from Edinburgh: If That’s All There Is, One Small Step, Home of the Wriggler.

If That’s All There Is

A couple are teetering on the brink of marriage. As the happiest day of their lives approaches, the panic begins to rise. And everyone’s watching.

Through the eyes of a jaded therapist and an awkward teenage girl we witness a case study of longing, envy, disappointment and violent urges, examining our obsession with seeking fulfilment at any cost.

One Small Step

Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the moon landing, ONE SMALL STEP is a 60 minute action-packed, fast and funny, full-throttled trip to the moon! Directed by Toby Hulse, the play focuses on two extraordinary actors, Oliver Millingham and Robin Hemmings who, between them, bring dozens of characters to life in a brilliantly inventive exploration of the space race. Oliver and Robin show how it's possible to land on the moon with little more than buckets, cardboard boxes and a thermos flask.

Home of the Wriggler

It is 3006 and underground, sheltered from the raging weather, an investigation into pollution and global warming is gridlocked. The prosecution and defence teams lost focus and power generations ago. Procedure has gone way out of the window and the irregular has become highly regular. Today the enquiry will continue to learn the legends of a place called The West Midlands, the people who lived there and the mythical things they once made called cars.

   2.30pm (matinee) / 7.30pm November 27
