109G – Open studio for Artists |

In partnership with Gavin Bufton and Loui Zhang, Dallas Winspear runs 109G - an open studio for artists and designers from around the world. It is a meeting place, a company and a living space for some - a place of home, work, exhibition, and fun.
The concept originated in Melbourne, Australia, where the aim was to offer freelancers, for a fee, a place to work that is away from home, but in a creative environment, surrounded by like-minded individuals. In the first 109 (from which this studio takes its name) there were painters, architects, urban planners, print makers, jewellery, product and graphic designers all working closely together, inspiring and influencing each others work cross media. It is this kind of hive that Dallas Winspear is looking to recreate here in China.
Two of the UK artists in Get it Louder, Sebastien Noel of Troika and Martino Gamper have been fortunate to be introduced to 109G and will be working from the studio producing their exhibits for Get it Louder 2007.
The British Council is extremely grateful for the generosity shown by Mr. Winspear for the artists to use this space and we wish 109G every success in building a creative platform for local and further a field artists and designers!
