Neal Rock and Newbetter
Neil Rock is an artist inspired by the shlock horror and special effects of 1980’s gore movies coupled with a the paintings of the abstract expressionists. His work, constructed from candy coloured silicone, creates painting-sculptures that have an anthromorphic physicality and eeriness. Newbetter is a curatorial design agency that has worked on numerous research and exhibition projects including Shrinking Cities, Can Buildings Curate, Airspace and Hydan. In their collaboration with Rock they created an architectural setting, based on Le Corbusier’s Cabanon, to be haunted by Rock’s sculpture-paintings.
