1. AirplayUK The Ultimate Screening China Tour (Free Events!)
The ultimate version of AirplayUK includes the most creative and entertaining UK music videos from the previous four editions. This time around we have the best 20 videos featuring a wide range of artists, music and visual styles, from live action band performance videos to entirely CGI-created animated wonderscapes. 2. 1m2 Shanghai - South Railway Station Workshops
The final decision on the current ‘1 square-mile’ venue is the one square mile area of the Shanghai South Railway Station. Considered in the decision was the colourfulness and variety of civic functions, population distribution and social patterns of citizens as well as the station’s historical significance. 3. Performance in Profile 2009
We are pleased to announce the publication of the 2009 edition of Performance in Profile, our directory of drama, dance, live art and outdoor work. The directory includes brief statements of artistic policy, details of shows available for international touring, and contact information for a total of 238 selected UK artists and companies working across the disciplines of dance, drama, live art and outdoor work. 1. Transforming Public Spaces Project
Transforming Public Spaces Project is a one year programme of collaborations between artists in China and the UK to increase community awareness of public spaces and highlight the role art can play in shaping cities and thus transforming public spaces to improve the quality of life. 2. China: Through the Lens of John Thomson (1868-1872)
The first exhibition devoted to the China images of Scottish photographer John Thomson shows the great diversity of photographs that Thomson took in China between 1868 and 1872.  What distinguishes the work was his desire to present a faithful account of China and its people – human aspects of life in China through an extensive record of everyday street scenes – rarely captured by other photographers of that era.   Film:

1. 2nd Annual European Union Film Festival in China
Following the great success of the first Annual EU Film Festival in China, held in Beijing in December 2008, we are pleased to announce that the 2nd Annual EU Film Festival in China will take place from 5 November to 4 December 2009. This year the film festival is expanding and will take place in two cities: Beijing and Chengdu. The film festival, which is financed by the Delegation of the European Commission to China and supported by the Swedish Presidency, invites all 27 EU Member States to showcase one recent, popular and successful film, and such a wide and diverse selection will enable the Chinese general public to discover the new faces of European cinema. Each movie will be shown twice in Beijing and once in Chengdu. Each film will be screened in the original language with English and Chinese subtitles. Please click here to read more.

2 Scottish Cinema of Dreams in China
The first Scottish Film Festival in China featured 12 Scottish films at the China Film Archive and the Beijing Film Academy in March 2009. The British Council Film Department recently interviewed the Festival curator Mark Cousins. Please click here to read more.

3. Best of British Animation Awards Vol 7 Screening
British Council proudly presents the best of the British Animation Awards Vol 7. The British Animation Awards (BAA) covers all aspects of the UK animation scene, from student work to commercials, children's entertainment, short and experimental art films, music videos, new technologies, script-writing and craftsmanship. China-UK Creative Entrepreneur Network
The UK was among the first to identify the potential and proceed to nurture creative talent in order to develop creative industries. To share the UK experience and to support local creative industries, the British Council launched the China-UK Creative Entrepreneur Network as an interactive platform for young creative entrepreneurs in China.
