Men’s summer fashion
TrendUK

The Daily Telegraph has published its men’s hotlist for 2006 including Puma trainers designed by Alexander McQueen, shirts by Band of Outsiders, Tom Ford sunglasses, loafers, military style and prints. Do the young men we interviewed agree? What will they be wearing?

Shorts and shoes
‘…I just pick up stuff from TK-Maxx that I either like or just get because it fits …When I’m in Egypt I’ll be sporting some funky sandals and long shorts and a waistcoat thingy with loads of pockets and a hat…and of course a pair of shades (not lamp shades – that would look silly)…’ Marcus, 28, Huddersfield.

DIY prints
‘Prints, £545!!!! I like prints and have made some myself, however… I use the £2.99 H&M t-shirts and choose my own prints, I've made shirts with banksy images on in the past - I think it cost about £7 to get them printed… Loafers are a sin. Khaki’s alright. Martin Margiela’s £225 bumbag… yes please!... Basically my ‘fashion’ is dictated by what’s on sale cos I’m always skint! ’ Joseph, 21, Clitheroe.

Khaki and camouflage
‘No khaki, it’s horrible, I much prefer linen in the summer. Love the Alexander McQueen Puma collaboration, will probably grab a pair of those! Really like that blazer as well, but think I would look stupid in it…’ Sam, 23, Chester.

Smartening up
Manote, 31 says, ‘men at my age think that a shirt is best. And that's trendy too if you look at what superstars are wearing these days. A greater number of them are wearing shirts... Wearing shirts gives the impression of something between formal and informal. Whatever shirts I choose, they always go with my black jeans and black leather loafers.’

Celebrity appeal
Blade, 30 from Old Trafford, Manchester, agrees about shirts, ‘The first thing I usually think of is wearing a t-shirt, jeans and trainers. However, as I have entered my 30s, such frolicking about seems passé. Instead I will be wearing my French Connection shirts - very stylish but suitably "retro" to get down with the kids. Jeans are now a no-no. I will probably be wearing some corduroy trousers similar to what Robert De Niro was wearing in Mean Streets, or possibly similar attire to Brad Pitt in Fight Club (minus the ketchup)…’ More from Blade.

It appears that The Telegraph doesn’t get it all its own way… what have our fashion aficionados inspired you to wear this summer?
