What the judges look for Bands who reach the final stages of a Battle of the Bands (or BoB) competition play in front of independent judges, usually three individuals familiar with playing, promoting and managing professional musicians. While the fans’ votes count in the heats, the judges select the ultimate winners.
There are also prizes for the best drummer, guitarist and vocalist or ‘front’ person. Simon, from Manchester band Cohesion, wasn’t aware of the exact criteria when he took part in the North West regional heat in Blackpool, but was happy to be assessed as it raised the stakes. Although his band didn’t win, he enjoyed playing in a new town to a new audience.
