Candidates resident in Chile who are interested in winning a prestigious Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) Chevening scholarship are now invited to submit applications. The period for applications will close Friday 2 March 2012.
Applications are only accepted through the online e-Chevening system.
Applications are welcomed from candidates who are Chilean or have permanent residency in Chile and who are applying for one-year masters or other postgraduate course of study at a UK university or higher education institution.
The FCO in Chile is looking for candidates pursuing courses of study that align to specific policy objectives of the British embassy in Chile. These include: Climate Change and “Green” or Sustainable Growth”; Public Policy including Legal Reform and Transparency in Government; and Financial Services. One of this year’s scholarships is being part-funded by HSBC Bank.
Full Chevening scholarships cover tuition fees, a monthly stipend and one return airfare for the selected scholar. Full or partial scholarships can be awarded. Spouses, partners and dependants are not covered by the scholarship terms.
Applicants for MBA programmes are not eligible for a Chevening scholarship. In Chile) candidates for doctorate study will also not be considered for the 2012/13 scholarship round.
Successful applicants are likely to be qualified professionals with an excellent academic record combined with some years of professional experience. They will have an excellent level of English sufficient to meet the demands of their chosen institution of study (IELTS Academic English Certificate with a score of 7, or an equivalent such as a TOEFL score of 95). It is expected that they will have identified particular courses of study of interest and will have made initial steps to confirm the availability of the course and their eligibility to undertake study commencing in Sept/Oct 2012.
Interviews for shortlisted candidates will take place in Santiago during the second half of March. Candidates invited to interview will be informed by 22 March.
