DPhil in Modern History, University of Oxford 2002-03
I received a Chevening Scholarship to begin a DPhil at the University of Oxford, where I study Modern History at Saint Antony's College. The scholarship greatly eased the financial burden of studying in Britain and allows me to experience an education that is simply not possible in Canada. Oxford, especially Saint Antony's College, is an incredibly dynamic place, an international meeting place of the world's top scholars, thinkers and political leaders. A typical day will involve having to choose between a lecture delivered by a leading historian and one given by Hamid Karzai, president of Afghanistan. I am very grateful to the British Council, and the University of Oxford, for providing this scholarship. I hope other Canadians will consider applying.
