PEARSON TEST OF ENGLISH ACADEMIC

Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) is a new computer-based test of international academic level English. Through the use of many innovative and integrated item types, the test will meet the needs of universities, colleges and professional and government organisations requiring a real-life measure of test takers’ ability to deal with academic level English language in communication.

Focusing on the needs of both score users and test takers, PTE Academic uses a variety of test delivery channels and new technologies to provide more detailed information and to enhance the testing experience. Test takers take the test on computer, in secure test delivery centres and institutions obtain more detailed and robust information about the actual language skills of applicants upon which to base their admission decisions.

The test is endorsed by Graduate Management Admission Council® (GMAC®)

Skills tested: Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing

PEARSON TEST OF ENGLISH GENERAL (FORMERLY KNOWN AS LTE)

Pearson Test of English General (PTE General) is a scenario-based English language test.  It is designed to allow students the freedom to express themselves, to show what they can do and how well they can use the English language in real- life situations.  The test is offered at six levels:

• Level A1 Foundation (Council of Europe Level A1)
• Level 1 Elementary (Council of Europe Level A2)
• Level 2 Intermediate (Council of Europe Level B1)
• Level 3 Upper Intermediate (Council of Europe Level B2)
• Level 4 Advanced (Council of Europe Level C1)
• Level 5 Proficient (Council of Europe Level C2)

Skills tested: All four skills are tested at each level. There is a single paper which tests listening and reading comprehension and writing skills and an oral test.

Availability: There are four sessions a year.

PEARSON TEST OF ENGLISH YOUNG LEARNERS (FORMERLY KNOWN AS LTEFC)

Pearson Test of English Young Learners (PTE Young Learners) is a scenario-based English language test and  is designed to be interesting and fun for young learners and to show how well they can use the English language.

• Quickmarch
• Breakthrough

Skills tested: All four skills are tested and the tests consist of two papers. One tests listening and reading comprehension and writing skills. The other is an oral test of test takers' speaking ability.

Availability: There are four sessions a year.
