British Council Centre in Mandalay is a place if you want to improve your English, prepare for UK examinations or simply to find information about UK and the educational opportunities it offers.

The Mandalay Centre is open to all, members and non-members alike and you can have access to over 5,000 books, newspaper, journals, free Internet service and live television news from BBC.

Individual Membership: Ks. 15,000 per year

• Borrow 4 books/periodicals at a time for a period of 2 weeks

Family Membership: Ks. 30,000 per year

• Borrow 10 books/periodicals
• Up to 3 persons can use the library

Corporate Membership: Ks. 75,000 per year

How do I Become a Member?

• Bring your National Registration Card or student identity card and two recent photographs
• Fill out a membership form
• Pay the appropriate membership fees

Self Access Centre

Improve your English language skills, prepare for UK exams and support your studies whenever you want!

With more than 500 titles of English language collection, exam preparation materials and contemporary UK fiction, we are the most comprehensive language study centre in Mandalay.

IELTS Corner

The new IELTS Corner is a place where students can practice for IELTS exam with over 50 titles of course books, exam practice books and other reference materials. You can also take out some of the books from this section for loan.

Ask for advice and information on UK education opportunities with information on courses, institutions, qualifications, application, and English language requirements.

We regularly organise workshops, talks and other events which our members can attend at no extra cost. Contact us if you want to attend our events.

IELTS Video Tutoring Programme - Students wishing to take the IELTS exam can now join our monthy IELTS video tutoring programme. It aims to present students with specific help to achieve their desired IELTS band score.

DVD Screening Service - Now our members can enjoy the best of British cinema, television and documentary production in our Self-access Centre. Using your service ticket, you can enjoy our collection of adventure, comedy, detective, documentary, drama, music, sport, environment, thriller and children movies.

This month collection includes: Far From the Madding Crowd, James Bond Collection – Dr. No, A View to Kill, License to Kill, Harry Potter - Chamber of Secrets and Johnny English.

Reading Club - We are organising a reading club to promote the habit of reading, help maintain reading skills and facilitate non-competitive book discussions.

ELT Activity - Do you want to improve your reading, writing, listeneing and speaking skills?

Every month, we have a discussion session, listening practices and reading exercises on different subject such as; Cultural, Sports, Science, History, Current Trends, Education, Entertainment, Technology and Environment, etc. For members who want to practice their English for Specific Purposes, there are activities in relation to Work and Study skills, Professional English as well as Exam Preparations such as IELTS.
