British Council IELTS Scholarship 2010

We are delighted to announce the launch of the 2010 British Council IELTS Scholarship for Myanmar students planning to study at universities in the UK at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level. Award winner will each receive $3500 (USD) towards their tuition fees. There are 2 awards to be won in 2010. Application registration is open until 31 July 2010 and 5 short-listed applicants will be invited to a face-to-face interview and will need to make a short presentation between 23 and 27 August 2010.

Who is eligible for the Award?

  • Essential eligibility criteria are that the applicants must
  • currently live in Myanmar
  • begin undergraduate/ postgraduate study in the UK in 2010
  • attend UK higher education institution that accepts IELTS as part of the admission requirements
  • have a valid IELTS score (IELTS test taken at the British Council after September 2008, Academic Module, With a minimum band score average 6.5 for Undergraduate and 7.0 for Postgraduate)
  • be able to provide an acceptance letter from the attending institution by 20 August

Application Process

  1. Take an IELTS test at the British Council centre and receive your scores.
  2. Download the application form and complete it.
  3. We must receive your application by 31 July 2010.
  4. We will short-list 5 applicants. We will notify you by email by 16 August 2010 whether or not you have been short-listed.
  5. By 20 August 2010, we must receive from short-listed applicants a letter of acceptance from the university you plan to attend.
  6. Failure to meet 20 August deadline for submission of your letter of acceptance will result in your immediate removal from the short-list of applicants.
  7. Five short-listed applicants will be invited to face-to-face interview held at the British Council between 23 August and 27 August. In the interview, applicants will have to give a short presentation on a topic provided by the British Council. Failure to attend the interview will result in your immediate removal from the final selection process.
  8. We will notify all short-listed applicants of the final result by email by 31 August 2010.
