Why study for a Cambridge English exam?
The Cambridge English exams are known all over the world and are recognised by universities, employers and national education authorities in many countries. If you want to improve your employment prospects, seek further education, or are preparing to travel or live abroad this is the right exam for you - an internationally recognised certificate showing the level you have attained in the language.

The benefits of exam success

You can use the qualification to prepare for further education overseas or employment locally. Many employers recognise Cambridge ESOL certificates as proof of the holder's ability to use English to communicate effectively and the skills gained are of value in a wide range of work-related and social situations.
You have an objective, globally-standardised measure of your English language abilities.
You gain an additional internationally-recognised qualification to complement existing school certificates.
You can use these UCLES qualifications as internationally-accepted indicators of your English language abilities.

Which exam?
Which exam you take depends on your level of English.  Cambridge offers many different exams to cover all levels of ability.

Key English Test (KET)
Level 1 - Assesses basic general ability in English.
Preliminary English Test (PET)
Level 2 -  Assesses the ability to cope linguistically in a range of everyday situations which require use of English in one's own or a foreign country, in contact with native and non-native speakers of the language.
First Certificate in English (FCE)
Level 3 - FCE has widespread recognition in commerce and industry and is recognised by some university faculties, colleges and other institutions as fulfilling English language requirements.
Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)
Level 4 - Indicates a high level of competence in English for candidates wishing to use English for professional or study purposes. It is recognised by most British universities and higher education institutions as fulfilling entrance requirements.
