FAQs
Secondary Learners (Aged 13 - 15)

Who is the programme for?
We are delighted to announce the launch of an innovative new programme for secondary learners aged 13 – 15 years old.  It has been designed to give your teenager a truly rewarding English learning experience.  Our courses are based on the latest developments in teaching English and use the most up to date age-specific resources and materials.

What are the aims?
Our Secondary Programme courses aim to:

  • provide teenagers with a positive experience to develop their enjoyment of English
  • develop teenagers’ confidence and skills when speaking and interacting with others
  • enhance and activate the English and content they are learning at school
  • foster independent learning and research skills for study outside the classroom

Which levels are available?
We have four language levels and each takes a full academic year (over four 10-week terms) to complete. This provides your teenager with 240 hours of learning per level:

Secondary Elementary -> Secondary Pre Intermediate -> Secondary Intermediate -> Secondary Upper Intermediate

What is the course content?
We achieve our aims through:

  • learning objectives shared with the teenagers as can-do statements
  • practical tasks and evocative teen-relevant topics
  • discussing global issues which are important to teens’ lives
  • real contexts to practise everyday functional language
  • individualised support for each teenager according to their ability

How are the courses assessed?
Assessment is based on the achievement of the can-do statements and showcased in Learning Portfolios where the children keep evidence of their learning from the year.  Each 60-hour term, your child will receive a report showing their progress.  They will receive a certificate at the end of the 240-hour academic year.

When are the lessons?
Primary Learners have three 2-hour lessons each week. These lessons are either Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays or Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
To find out your child or teenagers' level, s/he will take a written placement test and a short interview with one of our teachers.

How much does it cost?

Kyats 290,000 per term plus fees for materials.
