British Council Education Fair 2010

Date: Saturday 9 October 2010
Time: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m
Venue: Traders Hotel (Myanmar Ballroom)

This is a great opportunity to find out about our services and learning opportunities available for you at the British Council.  

The fair is open to all and there will be information booths where staff from Education UK, UK Examination Services, Library & Information Services and Teaching Centre will be delighted to give you information on UK further and higher qualifications, UK examinations, library services, English courses, and teacher training opportunities.  

On the day, service brochures and promotional items will be given away and you will also get the chance to buy Top Tips IELTS books at UK Examination Services booth. All booths will be opened from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.  

There will also be presentation sessions which are designed to give you further information on studying opportunities at UK further and higher education, UK examinations that will enhance your future career development and services and learning materials available at Library & Information for all learners of English.

  • Studying in the UK (10.30 a.m. – 12.00 noon) - This presentation will cover everything you need to know about studying in the UK starting from UK Education System, available study options, level of study (Pre-university and Career-based, Undergraduate and Postgraduate Studies) including general entry requirements, course fees, application procedure, and also changes for international students on points-based system.
  • UK examinations for your future success (12.30 p.m. – 1.30 p.m.) - This presentation will cover all the available UK exams you can take locally for your vocational, professional or educational success in your future career. All your questions about any of our UK exam products will be answered.
  • Library Services (2.00 p.m. – 3.00 p.m.) - It will cover different types of memberships offered, resources available, self-access centre, Knowledge Garden (children corner), library opening hours, monthly events and other useful tips for library users.
  • Learning English at the Teaching Centre (3.30 p.m. – 4.30 p.m.) - Do you want to help your child develop real-life communication skills to help them succeed? Do you need to prepare for an important examination such as IELTS? Do you want to improve your English and related skills to help you in the workplace? Do you want to improve your confidence and ability to communicate in English for every day purposes? If you say yes to any one of these question come and find out how we at the Teaching Centre can help you achieve your goals.

We have also arranged fun activities for young learners of English and anyone who would like to participate can contact British Council Library and Information Services for further information on how to enter the competitions.  

  • Story Reading Session for 5 to 12 year olds - from 10.30 a.m.
  • Colouring Games for 7 to 12 year olds - from 11.15 a.m.
  • Spelling Contest - from 3.30 p.m.
