The British Council is the United Kingdom's international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations.
The British Council was established in 1934 to help develop links between people overseas and the UK. and is registered in England as a charity. It is independent of the UK government.
The British Council has offices in 229 cities in 110 countries world-wide.
The British Council in Burma meets the aspirations of young Burmese by creating opportunities in education, English language learning and cultural exchange.
We are a major channel for the UK's public diplomacy in Burma - putting Burmese people in touch with people in the UK. We work for the benefit of the individual and for the mutual benefit of Britain and Burma.
In Burma we focus on improving the teaching and learning of the English language, administering UK exams and maintaining an up to date library of almost 30,000 books, videos, DVDs and magazines.
