Supporting Bulgaria's EU and NATO membership
Bulgaria's accession to the EU was a priority for the governments of both Bulgaria and the United Kingdom. Now that Bulgaria has become memberof the EU, we continue to be committed to supporting the country in its efforts to achieve EU standards in priority areas.
Support for Public Administration Reform in Bulgaria
We are managing a project funded by the FCO's Global Opportunity Fund to support the Bulgarian Ministry of State Administration and Administrative Reform (MSAAR) in effective and efficient implementation of public administration reform both at central and local level. Find out more
Legislative framework for Bulgarian libraries
Within the framework of the project we formed a core working group including representatives of policy makers, ministerial officials and senior library professionals that worked with UK specialists on the issues of administrative provision and legislative framework for Bulgarian libraries. Tomorrow’s Politicians Toolkit

In October 2007 we launched ‘’Tomorrow’s Politicians Toolkit’’ together with the British Embassy. It is the result of the British Council’s UK-South East Europe Forum, a two-year regional initiative (2004-2006). Find out more
Knowledge Institution Leadership
This is a one-year project that will offer the directors of the public libraries and other knowledge institutions a contemporary outlook on library management, and an understanding of UK good practices in turning libraries into hubs for access to information, self – development and life – long learning.
